
Apple Pie
3 large green apple (Granny Smith)
150gm castor sugar
125ml water
2 tablespoon white sugar (optional)
PASTRY
195 gm self raising flour
20 gm icing sugar
75 gm cold butter (chopper coarsely)
1 egg (beaten lightly)
63 gm fresh milk
METHOD
- peel, quater and core the apples, slice thickly. Put apples, caster sugar and bring to the boil, reduce heat, simmer about 10 minutes or until the apples are barely tender and still holding their shape. Gently turn the apple micture into a large colander or strainer to drain, cool to room temperature. (Aku potong kiub jer...)
- preheat the oven to 200'c (180'c fan forced). Grease a 20cm x 30cm lamington pan, line the base and the two long sides with a long piece of baking paper. (guna jer lah bekas apa yang ko ada, janji boleh bake...habis citer)
- PASTRY: sift the flour and icing sugar into a large bowl, rub in the butter. Make a well in the centre of the flour, use a knife to gently cut in the combined egg and milk. you need enough milk to make a soft dough. Don't over handle the dough, or it will become tough.
- Roll two-thirds of the pastry on a surface dusted with a little flour, large enough to line the base and slices of the pan, with about 1cm of the pastry extending over the sides- this pastry, where the top and bottom layers of pastry need to join. Roll the remaining pastry large enough tto generously cover the apple-don't strecth the pastry. Push together the edges of the pastry layers, cut away the excess pastry around the edges of the pan.
- Brush the pastry with little milk and sprinkle with white sugar if using. Slash about 6 holes in the pastry to let the steam escape.
- Bake the pie for about 45 minuter or until is goden brown. Stand the pie for 10 minutes, then turn it out, right-side up, onto a wire rack to cool.
sorry ler, jika ada yang tersalah taip. aku follow dari magazine "The Australian Women Weekly". Ni ler resepi apple pie yang aku cuba tempoh hari. Aku ikut resepi ni menjadi jer..apple pie aku.
